Alex Iwobi reveals how he helped Fulham sign Chukwueze
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has revealed that Fulham coach Marco Silva consulted him before signing his compatriot Samuel Chukwueze.
Chukwueze to Fulham
As Pulse Sports reported, Chukwueze signed for Premier League mid-table side Fulham on transfer deadline day. The 26-year-old spent the past two seasons in Serie A with AC Milan, where he failed to make his mark. He has now moved to the Premier League, where he will line up side by side with his international teammates Calvin Bassey and Iwobi.
Fulham moved late for the Nigerian, with Fabrizio Romano reporting an agreement between all parties earlier today. He reported that Fulham were set to sign the Nigerian on a loan deal with an option to buy.
What Iwobi said
In a recent interview, Iwobi lauded Chukwueze’s qualities and expressed his excitement to have him as a teammate. He also said that asked him about the former Villarreal wide-man and he gave glowing recommendations.
“I’m excited because we know the quality Samuel has, and he wants to get a lot of playing time, and as a brother, I’m just going to give him the confidence to go and express himself and be the player that he is,” Iwobi told Football Temple, per MSN.
“Yes, he (Marcos Silva) asked me about what he (Chukwueze) is like as a person because he knows who he is as a player. As a player, he is the type who would work hard.”
