Alex Iwobi completes over N20.9bn Fulham move, reunites with ex-Everton boss
Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has completed his sensational move from Everton to Fulham.
Iwobi sealed a deadline day move away from the Toffees to pen a long-term contract with Fulham for a reported fee of 22 million pounds.
The club, however, reported the fee as undisclosed after they made the transfer official early Saturday morning.
Iwobi to Fulham
In a statement on their website, Fulham were excited with their latest addition to a squad that already has so much quality.
“The Club is delighted to announce the signing of Alex Iwobi from Everton for an undisclosed fee,” the club said in a statement.
Iwobi has already put pen to paper on a five-year contract that will see him stay at the Craven Cottage until the summer of 2028.
With his latest transfer, the 27-year-old has reunited with Marco Silva, the man who lured him to Everton from Arsenal.
Iwobi buzzing to start
Speaking to the Fulham media after his unveiling, the Nigeria playmaker can’t wait to get on the pitch.
“I’m buzzing, I just can’t wait to get started,” he told the club. “I’m excited to start my journey here.
“Marco Silva spoke to me about the ambitions of the Club, and I’m on board. Hopefully, I can bring something to the Club.”
Iwobi’s brief
The latest addition to the Fulham family kicked off his football journey when he was snapped up by Arsenal at the age of six.
He moved up through the ranks at the Gunners before he made his senior debut in the 2015/2016 season under former manager Arsene Wenger.
Iwobi went on to make a total of 149 appearances across competitions, scoring 15 goals and winning the FA Cup.
He left Arsenal for Everton in the summer of 2019, who were coached by Silva, and where he had been before linking up with his former boss again.
Iwobi has 63 caps for the Nigeria Super Eagles and has scored 10 goals.
