KCB have wrapped up what has been a very dominant National 7s Circuit campaign by beating Kabras Sugar in the final of the Dala 7s in Kisumu on Sunday.

KCB Rugby wrapped up a dominant campaign in the 2025 National Sevens Circuit by edging out Kabras Sugar RFC 12-5 to lift the Dala 7s title on Sunday, September 14, at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Kisumu.

The hard-fought victory capped off a remarkable season for the bankers, who not only secured the Dala 7s crown but also finished as overall circuit champions.

Played under rainy conditions, the final was the first Cup showdown between the two sides since 2023 and marked Kabras’ first appearance in the decider since 2024.

Kabras had been chasing history as the first side to defend the Dala title since Homeboyz achieved the feat in 2017, but KCB’s resilience denied them.

KCB Edge Kabras in a Tight Final

KCB struck first when Samuel Asati crossed the whitewash, with Stephen Osumba adding the extras for a 7-0 lead. Kabras responded through Rayvone Ambale, set up by Eric Cantona, but a missed conversion left them trailing 7-5 at halftime.

In the second half, Floyd Wabwire powered over for an unconverted try, extending KCB’s lead to 12-5. The bankers held firm defensively to close out the match and clinch the title.

The Menengai Oilers took bronze after overwhelming Daystar Falcons 33-0 in a one-sided playoff. First-half tries from Daniel Kipchirchir, Denis Abukuse, and Beldad Ogeta — with two conversions from Eric Ogutu — opened a commanding 19-0 lead. Ogeta added another after the restart before Alvin Khavoli sealed the win.

Elsewhere, Nakuru RFC secured fifth place with a 17-10 victory over Mwamba RFC, while Catholic Monks lifted the Challenge Trophy after a 26-7 triumph over Impala RFC. MMUST RFC sealed 13th place with a 31-0 thrashing of hosts Kisumu RFC.

Standout Performers

KCB’s Elvis Olukusi was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) after steering his side to victory in the final.

Philip Walukana of Catholic Monks walked away with the Top Points Scorer Award, while the Top Try Scorer Award was shared between Denis Abukuse (Oilers) and Tyson Juma (MMUST), both finishing with seven tries.

In Division Two, Brian Ondego of Zetech Oaks swept all individual awards — MVP, Top Points Scorer, and Top Try Scorer — capping off a stellar season.
