Kenya vs Senegal: Marvin Nabwire Admits Harambee Stars Have Their Work Cut Out

Marvin Nabwire acknowledged that the Harambee Stars' upcoming match against Senegal would be a challenging one.

He noted that many of their players compete in top leagues abroad and are regarded as role models by the Harambee Stars squad.

These players include the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Sadio Mane, Nicolas Jackson, Idrissa Gana Gueye and Pape Matar Sarr.

Marvin Nabwire added that, despite the difficulty of the fixture, the team’s preparations have been positive, with the players in good condition and the training camp maintaining a strong and focused atmosphere.

“The match against Senegal will not be easy because most of their players play outside the country, and they are people we have been viewing as our idols. I know it won’t be an easy game, but the camp in the mood is great, and the players are fit,” Marvin Nabwire told FKF Media.

Marvin Nabwire reflected on Harambee Stars’ previous match against Equatorial Guinea, highlighting that while the team performed well overall, they were let down by missed opportunities.

The Harambee Stars defender explained that the squad, which included several new players, showed strong cohesion and played with good chemistry throughout the game.

According to Marvin Nabwire, the experience served as a learning moment, demonstrating that the team could dominate and control matches, but also emphasising the need to convert chances more effectively in future encounters.

He expressed confidence that the lessons learned would be applied in upcoming fixtures to improve the team’s finishing and overall performance.

“Our previous match was great, everyone played well, but the mistake we made was failing to convert our chances, and that is a mistake we learnt and we shall rectify,” he added.

“If you look keenly, our team had new players, but it was also proof that we played well. We had good chemistry, and we dominated the match, but we failed to utilise the chances.”

Despite Senegal’s evident quality, Marvin Nabwire remains optimistic that Harambee Stars can apply the lessons from their previous match to rise to the challenge.
