K'Ogalo are nearing the FKF Premier League title with a key match against KCB FC boosted by their recent rivals' outcome.

Gor Mahia went to bed with one hand on the FKF Premier League title Wednesday night buoyed by a favorable outcome from their rivals and looking ahead to a pivotal match against KCB FC at the SportsPesa Arena in Murang’a on Thursday afternoon.

This critical encounter comes after their arch-rivals AFC Leopards clinched a narrow 1-0 victory over Kenya Police FC at Dandora Stadium in a result that inadvertently boosted Gor Mahia's title prospects.

K'Ogalo now finds themselves ten points clear at the top of the league table and a victory over KCB would all but secure their dominance, setting them up to claim the championship with just a point needed in their subsequent weekend game.

Gor Mahia's coach, Jonathan McKinstry, has expressed a calm but focused demeanor as he discussed the upcoming fixtures.

"A big week ahead in the FKF Premier League. Gor Mahia players and staff are focused and prepared for what will be two demanding matches, starting with KCB FC on Thursday. Once again, we ask the Green Army to come out in their huge numbers to be part of the journey," McKinstry stated.

Gor Mahia's confidence is also buoyed by their recent form as they are currently unbeaten in their last five matches, having won the last four.

This streak of positive results contrasts sharply with their Thursday opponents. KCB, positioned 11th in the league with 36 points, have not won in their last five league games, drawing three and losing two.

Despite the pressure, Gor Mahia’s squad appears undeterred and their key player and striker, Benson Omala, remains a figure to watch as he aims to increase his goal tally and challenge for the Golden Boot.

Omala is currently second in the scorer's chart, closely following Police striker Tito Okello, who leads with 16 goals.

The former Western Stima marksman's pursuit of individual glory aligns with the team’s broader objective of league success adding an extra layer of intrigue to the match.

Last season, Gor clinched their 20th FKF-PL title with 70 points, just a narrow margin ahead of second-placed Tusker.

This year they are poised to surpass that achievement under McKinstry’s guidance who is set to take over the Gambia national football team's coaching role after this campaign.

The Irishman's impending departure adds a poignant backdrop to Gor’s campaign as the team aims to give him a triumphant send-off.
