Denmak FC captain has challenged Gor Mahia ahead of their FKF Cup clash, expressing respect but no fear, as his side aims for victory.

Denmak FC captain Khalifa Shaban has boldly stepped forward with a statement that sets the stage for a thrilling encounter against the football titans Gor Mahia in the round of 32 FKF Cup clash scheduled for Sunday, 25 February. 

The much-anticipated match will take place at the Ukunda ShowGround, kicking off at 3:15 pm, promising fans an exciting showdown.

In an interview with Pulse Sports, Shaban expressed a mix of respect and unyielding confidence towards their formidable opponents.

"We respect Gor Mahia very much, but that does not mean we are scared of them, no! They will be coming into the match as favourites, meaning the pressure to win will be on their side, and that might work in our advantage. It is about avoiding mistakes and taking our chances," Shaban stated, underscoring his team's strategic mindset heading into the game.

This encounter marks Denmak FC's debut in the competition this season, making their determination to make a significant impact even more palpable. 

Shaban further highlighted the unpredictable nature of football and the team's focus on their performance. 

"This is football, anything can happen, we just want to do our job on the pitch and hope for the best," he added, reflecting the spirit of optimism and readiness that pervades the Kwale-based lower division side.

The FKF Cup will indeed be a platform for Denmak FC to prove their mettle against the 11-time champions. 

Gor Mahia, with their rich history and experience in the competition, will not underestimate their opponents, knowing the stakes and the unpredictability that cup competitions bring.

In addition to the Denmak FC versus Gor Mahia match, the Ukunda ShowGround will also host a face-off between Bumbani Stars and Tusker starting at noon on the same day. 

The round of 32 matches, taking place on 24 and 25 February, promises to be a festival of football that fans will not want to miss.

The victor of this one-legged cup tie will advance to host the winner between Bamachoge and SS Assad in the round of 16, scheduled for 30th – 31st March 2024.
