Manchester City are keen on ageeing a new deal with Erling Haaland this summer to remove existing clauses in his current deal and stop Real Madrid from making a move.

Haaland arrived at Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund last summer for £51m, owing to a release clause in his contract with the Bundesliga outfit.

He has taken to English football like a Fish to water, obliterating almost every available record at the Etihad and in the Premier League, finishing with the golden boot and registering 52 goals in 52 appearances.

His spectacular performances have also seen him win individual honours including Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards. The Norwegian goal-machine could yet add the Uefa Champions League winners medal to his already impressive debut season.

Man City looking to extend Haaland's stay to fend off Real Madrid

According to 90 min, City are keen to agree a new contract with the striker to remove any existing clauses that may see him leave the club if a certain price point is met.

Haaland's agent, Rafaela Pimenta, refused to deny the existence of a release clause in the striker's contract, further fueling speculation about a potential exit and with Real Madrid lurking, City want to take control of the situation.
