Kenneth Muguna helped Kenya Police win the FKF Premier League title, which is the fourth of his career after winning three with Gor Mahia.

Kenneth Muguna has hit back at the criticism he has received from Gor Mahia fans over the last 18 months after finally winning his fourth career FKF Premier League title last weekend.

Muguna, who has been at Kenya Police since 2023, was an integral part of the side as they pipped his former employers Gor Mahia to clinch the league for the first time in history.

Muguna helped  his side edge out Gor Mahia with a 1-0 victory over Shabana FC last weekend, securing the trophy with one game to spare.

“I can’t say this is revenge or anything,” Muguna told Telecomasia“For me, they didn’t matter — it was just noise I rebuffed.”

Muguna’s Rift With Gor Mahia Fans

The tension between Muguna and Gor fans dates back to February 2024, when the midfielder scored twice against his former club at Police Sacco Stadium.

His intense celebration during that match — perceived as provocative — sparked a heated exchange on social media between the player and sections of the K’Ogalo fan base.

Despite the backlash, Muguna has stood firm, focusing instead on his form and value to the team.

“What is most important for me is the coach and what he thinks. If he says I’m not doing okay, that would bother me.

“But as long as he’s satisfied with what I’m doing on the pitch, I’ll always be okay,” he explained.

The 29-year-old midfielder previously had two stints at Gor Mahia — first in 2017 after joining from Western Stima, and again in 2018 following a brief spell abroad with KF Tirana in Albania.

In 2021, Muguna turned down a contract renewal at Gor Mahia and opted to join Azam FC in Tanzania. He returned to Kenya two years later, signing with Kenya Police FC in 2023 — a move that turned out to be instrumental in shaping his current success.

Now with four FKF Premier League titles to his name, Muguna considers this latest triumph particularly special.

“It’s a joy to win a fourth league title as a player — but this one is different. It’s the first ever for Police FC, and that makes it even more meaningful.”

While the rift with some Gor Mahia fans may remain, Muguna’s performances and leadership on the pitch have spoken volumes.

As Kenya Police look to build on their league success and aim for continental competition, Muguna is expected to be central to the club’s ambitions moving forward.
