The former Gor Mahia defender has labeled Simba as one to forget.

In the aftermath of an arduous season, Simba SC defender, Joash Onyango, has opened up about the Tanzania Premier League giant's collective disappointment over their trophyless campaign.

With a heavy heart but an unwavering spirit, Kenya international has shared his thoughts on the challenges they faced, the lessons learned, and the determination to return stronger.

In front of Simba TV cameras, Onyango, the former Gor Mahia defender's honesty shone through as he began discussing the season's trials and tribulations.

"Season was not good for us at the club to everyone at the club because we did not win anything," Joash began as his voice tinged with disappointment.

"We had high hopes and worked tirelessly day in and day out. But sometimes, despite our best efforts, the results just don't come."

Simba, a club renowned for its rich history and passionate fan base, had set their sights on multiple trophies, hoping to add more silverware to their collection.

“We had high hopes to go far in the CAF Champions League but we failed to get past defending champions Wydad Casablanca, but all in all, I am happy we reached the quarterfinals,” he added.

Simba still have two matches remaining against Polisi and Coastal Union, but the points gathered will count for nothing as Yanga have been crowned champions.

Meanwhile, the former Western Stima defender highlighted the importance of staying focused as he went on to deny reports that he is planning to leave the club.

"I want to make it clear that I have not spoken to anyone about leaving Simba SC," Onyango stated firmly.

"The media's failure to report the truth has created unnecessary confusion. I am still very much a part of this team, and I have no intention of leaving unless the coaches and administration decide to terminate my contract."

Onyango joined Simba in 2020 from record Football Kenya Federation Premier League champions Gor Mahia on an initial two-year contract.

The club renewed his contract in June 2022 after the two parties agreed to extend it for another two seasons.

It is worth noting that in May 2021, South African giants Orlando Pirates showed interest in signing the players, and the then Simba Spokesman Haji Manara (now Yanga SC) placed a hefty tag on him.
