In his first press conference as Brazil's manager, 'Carletto' emphasized his World Cup ambitions, remained non-committal about specific tactics, and discussed Vinícius Júnior's form.
After much back and forth, Carlo Ancelotti was officially unveiled as the new Brazilian national team manager by Samir Xaud, the elected president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
The former Real Madrid coach didn't hide his delight at taking the reins of the Seleção: "It's a wonderful opportunity to coach the best national team in the world. I'm eager to do great work and lead them back to becoming champions. It's a huge responsibility, and I'm thrilled."
"We need to create a family atmosphere built on respect. This is a great challenge. Winning the World Cup is the goal of an entire nation. The unconditional love for the Seleção will be a significant advantage," Carletto emphasized.
The Italian manager also thanked Real Madrid for allowing him to negotiate with the CBF, despite having a contract with Los Blancos until 2026.
Squad announcement

In addition to his first official introduction to the Brazilian media and fans, Carlo Ancelotti used the initial press conference to announce his 26-man squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The omissions of Rodrygo and Neymar from the first squad were notable. However, Ancelotti assured everyone that the Santos star remains in his plans: "We're counting on Neymar at his best. He came to Brazil to play in the World Cup. I spoke with him to explain this, and he agrees."
"We have to win because these are two crucial matches to secure qualification. Neymar is just coming back from injury, and there are others like Joelinton, Militão, Rodrygo, Gabriel, and Ederson who couldn't be called up due to fitness issues," Ancelotti stressed, looking ahead to the matches against Ecuador on June 6th and Paraguay five days later.
Received with much fanfare by Samir Xaud and Luiz Felipe Scolari, the last manager to win a World Cup with Brazil, Ancelotti reaffirmed his desire to win the Seleção's sixth World Cup title in 2026.
The former Real Madrid boss also confirmed that Brazil's interest wasn't recent: "They approached me two years ago, but I renewed my contract, and Real Madrid didn't want me to leave. This year, the circumstances were different. We talked, and it was finalized. I wish the club all the best."
Ancelotti also pointed out that he has always had a special relationship with Brazil and offered a guarantee about a former player: "I played alongside Falcão. Then, as a manager, I've coached many Brazilian players: Cafu, Kaká, Pato, Ronaldo, and now Vinícius, Rodrygo, Militão, and Endrick. If Vinícius hasn't yet shown his best form for the national team, he will."
Ancelotti becomes the first foreign coach to lead Brazil national team.
