Mudavadi got his first call-up to the national team in 2017.

Harambee Stars head coach Engin Firat has revealed that Kakamega Homeboyz midfielder Moses Mudavadi failed to honour his call-up due to a hitch in his travel documents.

Kenya will face Iran in Tehran on Tuesday, March 28 in their first international match after over a year in the cold due to a FIFA ban.

Firat had called thirteen midfielders in the squad but dropped four, including Mudavadi, Alvin Mang’eni, Joseph Mwangi, and Hasan Beja.

“We told him to bring his National Identity Card and passport, but he left the camp for Kakamega to collect the documents.

Therefore everything was clear. If he cannot handle this, I cannot wait for everything,” the coach said.

The 52-year-old gaffer also explained that AIK defender Collins Sichenje had to leave the camp due to an injury that he could not have recovered from before the trip to Iran on Sunday.

“Collins was not really dropped because he had a slight injury and we were thinking it could be treated but it was not possible,” he added.

Sichenje was among 12 defenders that were named in the provisional squad that had been holding residential training at the Kasarani Stadium.

The upcoming friendly marks Harambee Stars’ first outing since FIFA lifted the suspension on Kenya football in November 2022.

Kenya was suspended in February 2022 over government involvement in football.
