The two-time Frankfurt Marathon winner is staring at a lengthy ban after being cited for the use of a prohibited substance from a test conducted in November 2024.

Two-time Frankfurt marathon champion Brimin Misoi Kipkorir faces the prospect of a doping ban after being provisionally suspended from competition due to a failed drug test.

Kipkorir could become the next Kenyan athlete to join the list of shame after the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) handed him the suspension on Monday due to the Presence/Use of Prohibited Substances (EPO, Furosemide).

The said substances were found in his sample which was collected out-of-competition on November 22, 2024.

Kipkorir has carved a career for himself in road racing, having won the Sydney Marathon last September, just two months before the race was elevated to a World Marathon Major in November.

He is also a two-time Frankfurt Marathon winner, claiming victories in the German city back-to-back in 2022 and 2023.

The 34-year-old had to overcome injuries before he started winning races with a 50th place finish at the 2016 Kass marathon acting as a motivation before he went on to win the 2017 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon.

He would struggle to make a mark on the international front, injuries forcing him to drop out of the Lille and Gold Coast Marathons, before he recovered to start winning.

Kipkorir has a personal best of 2:04:53 recorded at the 2023 Frankfurt Marathon but all his achievements risk going down the drain after being cited for a doping offence.
