Cheruiyot’s season has been off to a good start, unlike last season where he failed to win any of the 1500m races after battling a series of injuries.
Timothy Cheruiyot destroyed a strong field on Saturday night to reign supreme over the men’s 1500m race at the USATF LA Grand Prix at UCLA’s Drake Stadium.
Cheruiyot cut the tape in a world lead time of 3:31.47 to stamp authority and demonstrate that he is still the one to beat going forward.
Youngster Reynold Cheruiyot finished second in 3:32.01 as USA’s Hobbs Kessler sealed the podium after clocking 3:32.61. Another Kenyan, Vincent Keter, finished fifth in 3:33.16.

The duo has not clashed at any event since the season started and the Grand Prix will be the first.
Cheruiyot’s season has been off to a good start, unlike last season where he failed to win any of the 1500m races as he was battling a series of injuries.
He also failed to defend his 1500m crown at last year’s World Championships in Oregon and might just be going for it at this year’s edition of the event in Budapest, Hungary.
He opened his season with an impressive fifth-place finish at the Diamond League Meeting in Doha, Qatar, where he was making his debut over the 3000m race.
He then competed at the Kip Keino Classic and finished third over the 800m race. The 1500m race in USA was his first of the season and going forward, things might just be getting better for him.
For Reynold, finishing second behind Cheruiyot, who has dominated the event for the previous three years, is impressive.
