The three-time Olympic champion revealed that this season will be her final as a professional athlete, but certainly not a farewell tour.

She added that the decision to continue competing even at 38 is to show other women that anything is possible, and age should not define how far they can go.

“I’m adding to the conversation of what it looks like to be a female sprinter. I’m here to inspire someone who may not find success until they’re in their thirties. Now they have a blueprint, because I did it first,” Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce said in an interview with Marie Claire.

"This was on my terms. I didn’t tap out because someone said I should. I’m the kind of athlete that’s always going to come back harder the next time.”

Once she hangs her spikes, she still has a lot of things to focus on, including her family, her faith, her philanthropy, and her hair care company AFIMI.

“I want my legacy to be the totality of who I am; the mom, the athlete, the entrepreneur, the philanthropist,” Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce said.

“I want it to be about impact. The impact that I've had on and off the track in creating space for other women to understand that they can thrive in life.”

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s decision to retire is not an end, but a powerful transition and as she prepares for her final season, she continues to break barriers and redefine what is possible for women in sport and beyond.
