Mystery surrounds the actual details of the super shoe and there are claims that it is the best answer to Adidas’ Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1, that Tigst Assefa wore in Berlin.

Kelvin Kiptum shattered the men’s world record to win the Chicago Marathon on Sunday in 2:00:35.

He completely destroyed Eliud Kipchoge’s world record time of 2:01:09 that he set during the 2022 Berlin Marathon.

The women’s race was won by Sifan Hassan, who clocked the second-fastest time in history. She clocked 2:13:44 to win the race ahead of defending champion Ruth Chepng’etich who was forced to finish second.

As reported by Fox Sports, Kiptum and Hassan wore a prototype Nike shoe as the company’s war with Adidas escalated. They both wore the prototype, which World Athletics has approved for developmental use under ‘NikeDev163’.

Fox Sports further reported that mystery surrounds the actual details of the super shoe and it is seen as Nike’s next version of the Alphafly. It was also noted that it is the best answer to Adidas’ Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1, which Tigst Assefa obliterated the women’s world record in Berlin last month.

The Adizero hit the market after Berlin and despite its hefty cost, the shoes sold out within hours of hitting general sale.

A similar interest is expected for Nike’s new shoe, which was also won by Benson Kipruto who finished second in the race. Five-time Berlin Marathon champion Kipchoge also wore the shoes during the Berlin Marathon.

Meanwhile, the race was only Kiptum’s third marathon race and he managed to break the world. He made his debut at the 2022 Valencia Marathon where he won with the fastest debut time in the marathon.

He then proceeded to the London Marathon earlier this year where he dominated and ran the second fastest time ever in history to win the race. His recent feat was at the Chicago Marathon where he brought the world to a stand still with his world record time.
