Asenath Rotich has revealed their unfulfilled April wedding plans in a tearful tribute during his funeral service.

Late Marathon World Record holder Kelvin Kiptum's wife, Asenath Rotich, has delivered a heart-wrenching tribute to her husband during his funeral service, unveiling the couple's plans for a church wedding in April—a dream that will now remain unfulfilled.

Amidst tears, Rotich shared the depth of their love and the pain of their separation, emphasizing that although their plans were significant, they pale in comparison to the grand design of life that is beyond human comprehension.

"My dear love, I can't learn how to say goodbye to you with weak fingers and pain in my heart. It's unbelievable that today I've learned to stay with our beloved kids without you coming home again," she expressed, her voice breaking with emotion.

The ceremony was a somber gathering of family, friends, and dignitaries, including President William Ruto and World Athletics head Sebastian Coe, all united in mourning the loss of a remarkable athlete and a cherished individual.

Kiptum, who passed away in a tragic accident on February 11, 2024, alongside his coach Gervais Hakizimana was remembered not just for his athletic achievements but for the love and joy he brought to those around him.

Asenath's tribute went beyond mourning; it was a declaration of enduring love and commitment.

"I promise to gather my strength for the sake of our children," she vowed, highlighting her determination to be a pillar of support for their children in Kiptum's absence.

Kiptum's legacy as a husband, father, and athlete was celebrated one last time as his body was laid to rest at his new home in Naiberi, Uasin Gishu, following a public viewing in Iten.
