The 29-year-old revealed that just 50 meters into the race, he lost his balance and fell, but had no choice but to pick himself up and keep going.

John Korir revealed that he had prepared well for the race and could not imagine pulling out despite having hurt his knee.

At around the 20-mile mark, John Korir made a brave move to pull away from the pack and since no one followed him, he took the opportunity to continue opening the gap and eventually won the race.

He revealed that it was a special moment, meeting his brother Wesley Korir at the finish line as he had promised to win the race, and he was glad to have delivered.

“I was not even less than 50m from the start, I fell and crawled for some seconds before I stood and tried to close the gap,” John Korir said after the race.

“It did not affect me mentally, but it affected my leg, and I was feeling a little bit of pain, but I was ready to run.”

“I was ready to win Boston, I had trained for it…I expected to see my brother at the finish line because I had promised that I would win the race. It was a special moment, and we are happy to become champions here in Boston.”

Despite an early setback, John Korir’s grit and determination carried him to a triumphant finish, turning pain into purpose and etching his name into Boston Marathon history.
