Cordell Tinch who turned pro in 2023, is in the form of his life and his meteoric rise is down to hardwork and commitment, coupled by a strict training regime. The former NFL player ran a world-leading 12.96 for the 110m hurdles at the Arkansas Grand Prix in Fayetteville, Arkansas in June 2023, maintained that a lot has changed since he chose to focus on his track career.

"It sounds pretty good (to be joint fourth on the all-time list). I just want to go out there and compete after winning last week. As I continue to go through the season I try to get better each week. I've changed a lot (over the winter) in my everyday life and training," Tinch said in Shanghai.

Cordell Ticnh acknowledged that he is still learning the trade in his specialty considering  his late choice of athletics. He added that he has learnt from both junior and senior athletes as he strives to become the best.

"It takes a while in your first year as a pro, it is a learning process. Technically last year was my first full season as a pro. I've learned a lot from the older people that I've been around and sometimes the younger people. There are a lot of things that I've added to be the best athlete I can."

Cordell Tinch's victory in Shanghai Diamond League in the 110m hurdles in a meet record of 12.87 seconds, moved him to equal fourth on the world 110m hurdles all-time list.

However, he said he won't rest on his laurels, highlighting areas that need improvement. "I felt like I was going to run something fast, but it is a matter of trying to finish those races when I get out well. Because I get well and I get a little relaxed towards the end. I didn't know it would be 12.8 fast, but I thought it would be at least faster than 13.06."

Tinch returned to athletics at Pittsburg State University, and became NCAA Division II Indoor champion in the 60m hurdles and the high jump in 2023.
