Donovan Bailey hailed Letsile Tebogo, Ferdinand Omanyala, and Akani Simbine as the future of sprinting.
Donovan Bailey believes African sprinters including Letsile Tebogo, Ferdinand Omanyala and Akani Simbine are coming up fast and will dominate the world of sprinting in the coming years.
The three-time world champion revealed that Africans have now realised that they cannot only compete in middle and long distances but also the sprint races and they will be lethal and give Americans a run for their money.
Tebogo has already started making waves and is a serial threat when it comes to the 100m, 200m and the 400m. The Motswana youngster beat Noah Lyles and Kenny Bednarek in the men’s 200m final at the Paris Olympic Games.

Letsile Tebogo reflected on his career's turning point, winning his first global gold in Nairobi.
The world 100m silver medallist also claimed wins in a series of Diamond League Meetings and then rounded up his season at the Diamond League Meeting final where he finished an impressive third.
He also won a silver medal in the 100m at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary and a bronze in the 200m. The 2024 season will be another opportunity for him to continue with his winning ways.
Akani Simbine, a veteran sprinter is also going strong and continues to inspire the young generation. Ferdinand Omanyala, Africa’s fastest man will also be eyeing redemption this season and Americans should beware.
“This is such an incredible changing of the guard; the Africans have discovered that they could run fast too. They not only can run long but they can run fast too. In this case, you have an entire continent of incredible stars,” the two-time Olympic champion said on his podcast.
“Letsile Tebogo is track and field's next greatest star and it’s biggest ambassador. My biggest disappointment in Paris was Omanyala and I hope his team now knows what needs to be done. He is leading the way for other sprinters in Kenya.
“Many young sprinters are going to come from the continent of Africa, I mean we can name all the countries that will be shining in Los Angeles in four years. The Africans are coming and I’m loving it and they are very great, you have Akani Simbine who is a veteran and is leading a great young team in South Africa.”
