Former Olympics and world 800m champion Athing Mu is seeking inspiration from the Bible as she faces a daunting task in bid to return to her brilliant best.
Former Olympics champion Athing Mu seems to be seeking solace in the Bible following her indifferent start to her 2025 track season.
Mu ran her first race in nine months, when she featured in the 5,000m at the Mt SAC Relays at Hilmer Lodge Stadium in California last weekend, but could not finish, dropping out after 3,000m.
It is a race that showcased the rustiness Mu still has after not running since her painful exit from the US Olympics trials last June.

3 Americans Set to Stop Shericka Jackson's Bid for Redemption in 200m Season Debut
Shericka Jackson will begin her 200m comeback on Saturday, aiming for redemption while facing a fierce American trio out to test her.
While she plots a way back, Mu has sought divine intervention, seeking to draw inspiration from a Bible verse that encourages believers not to worry.

Mu took to her Instagram stories and posted Mathew 26:6, which states: “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
The verse implies that God will care and provide for humans just like he does to birds, encouraging people not to despair when the going gets tough.

Athing Mu-Nikolayev Reflects on the Realities of Marriage and New Beginning After Season Opener
Athing Mu-Nikolayev has embraced married life and a fresh start on the track, finding peace and purpose as she navigates a new season shaped by faith and reflection.
It is perhaps what Mu needs, given the going has been tough on the track with no signs of the form that made her win Olympics 800m gold and world title in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
Mu had hoped to defend her Olympics title in Paris last year but an unfortunate fall during her 800m final at the US trials saw her miss out on a place in the top three and ultimately cost her a place in the team.
