You are crazy — Real Madrid youngster reacts to comparisons to Barcelona star and Pele

Real Madrid's youngster has rubbished the comparisons between himself and legendary Brazilian superstar Pele, tagging them as crazy media antics.

The Endrick buzz 

The 17-year-old was one of the most coveted talents in world football before Real Madrid beat the chasing pack to the race for his signature in 2022.

Given his age and FIFA regulations, they had to wait till he turned 18 to incorporate him. He will turn 18 this summer and will start to play for Real Madrid in the preseason.  

Due to his early bloom, he unavoidably earned comparisons with the legendary Pele, who famously won the World Cup with Brazil at the tender age of 17. 

Endrick is currently with the Selecao, as they plan to depose bitter rivals Argentina as the champions of Copa America later this month. 

He scored his third goal for Brazil last night, which was the winner against Mexico, continuing his trend of scoring important goals for the Selecao after scoring a goal at Wembley to seal a 1-0 victory over England and in the 3-3 draw to Spain.

Endrick addresses comparisons 

The hype machine began to chug once more and the comparisons with greats have continued,  but Endrick remains level-headed and is not letting himself be swayed by the high praise. 

Addressing the comparisons with Pele, Endrick thought it was even crazy to bring it up, as in his words, Pele is Pele.

“I always had it in my head that you guys (the media) create crazy things. When I was younger, when I was 16, I used to look at social media a lot,” he said to reporters, per GFNS..

“And they kept comparing me with Vitor Roque; they kept comparing me with Pelé. You guys are crazy, man. Pelé was Pelé.”

He also addressed the comparisons with Vitor Roque, another young Brazilian striker who was signed by Real Madrid’s eternal rival Barcelona. Endrick and Roque seem to have a good relationship, if their post-match camaraderie is anything to go by.
