Wounded Arsenal planning unbreakable defence by targeting Bayern Munich defender to partner Saliba

Thursday's 2-0 defeat to West Ham marked Arsenal's first loss at the Emirates Stadium this season, extending their recent poor run to just one win in the last five matches. 

Mikel Arteta faces challenges with several players sidelined due to injuries, including Thomas Partey, Fabio Vieira, Jurrien Timber, and Takehiro Tomiyasu. 

According to The Athletic, Bayern Munich's Matthijs de Ligt and Borussia Dortmund's Nico Schlotterbeck are long-term defensive targets for Arsenal. 

Although De Ligt may not be a viable option in the January transfer window, there could be potential for future negotiations. 

The Dutch center-back, who joined Bayern from Juventus for over £60m, may be willing to search for regular football elsewhere as he competes with Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae for a spot in Thomas Tuchel's lineup.
