Many athletics fans expected Noah Lyles to give his flowers to Jamaican fiancée Junelle Bromfield but the American had other ideas.

In celebration of Women in Sports Day (WSD), Lyles, Rai Benjamin, Jeremy Richards, and other male track athletes were asked to give their favourite sportswomen flowers, showing how much they appreciate them.

The innovative idea carried out by respected athletics content creator and presenter @realtalkwithtee, who spoke with a number of male athletes after the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.

Surprisingly, world's fastest man Lyles snubbed his fiancée Bromfield as he gave his flowers to Grand Slam winner and Tennis star Coco Gauff.

Olympic 400mH champion Benjamin made a legendary pick in Jamaican sprint icon Veronica Campbell-Brown, who retired as an eight-time Olympic medalist and is the second of three women in history to win two consecutive Olympic 200m events.

Another surprising pick was from Trinidad and Tobago's sprint king who chose Africa's fastest woman in history Marie Jose Ta Lou-Smith, while Nigerian sensation Udodi Onwuzurike chose her compatriot and world record holder Tobi Amusan.
