We don't have a goalkeeper: Nigerians blast Uzoho's poor performance against Saudi Arabia

The Super Eagles boast of surplus attacking talents, most of which are in red-hot form in top European leagues, a fact acknowledged by all and sundry.

However, the reverse is the case for the goalkeeper position, as the Nigerian national team has been unable to produce a trusted shot-stopper since the retirement of Vincent Enyeama and the unfortunate ailment suffered by Carl Ikeme.

The goalkeeper department is a worry for Nigerian fans, and those sentiments were proved justified once more as an abysmal performance in goal from Francis Uzoho cost Nigeria victory in a friendly against Saudi Arabia today.

Nigeria played out a 2-2 draw against the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia and the Omonia Nicosia goalkeeper was in the frame for both goals conceded by Jose Peseiro’s side.

Despite having a dominant start, Nigeria fell behind first after Uzoho diverted the ball into his own net from a corner kick swung into the box.

Nigeria managed to equalise, and Kelechi Iheanacho came on to score a beautiful late goal, however, another error by Uzoho saw the Super Eagles concede a late equaliser to a Mohamed Kanno strike.

Ahmad Rufai Sunusi said, “We went from Enyeama to Ozuor goalkeeper. God abeg.” Yahaya Mohammed also reminisced about the security the Super Eagles had under the former Lille shot-stopper: “Vicent Enyama God will continue to bless u as your performance will be forever cherish.”

A baffled Daniel Sunday said, “I am yet to understand why Super Eagle don't have a goal keeper.” El Khaleefa, lamenting in Nigerian pidgin, said, “You see that keeper, make them just keep am for one side because his not good at all.”
