What Hakimi said

Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has dismissed suggestions that the French champions are outright favourites for the upcoming season, insisting that several top European clubs have strengthened significantly.

Speaking ahead of the campaign, the Moroccan international stressed that PSG’s focus will be on taking each match as it comes rather than getting carried away with title predictions.

"Are we favorites? I don't know, I don't think so. We are strong, but there are teams that have brought in a lot of players. We will remain focused, stick to our game plan, and take it one match at a time. Who are the favorites? Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool made some big signings, Manchester City too. We also have, we're ready for it," Hakimi stated.

He attributed PSG's emphatic 4-0 victory over Real Madrid in the World Club Championship semi-final to his team being "physically superior, better prepared, and with a better mindset."

PSG faces Tottenham in the UEFA Super Cup on August 13th in Udine. The French champions will discover their Champions League group stage opponents on August 28th, with the final set for May 30th of next year in Budapest.
