Nigeria's Women's under-20 side have wrapped up their group stage campaign at the 2023 WAFU Zone B U-20 Women's Cup with nine points following their win over Burkina Faso on Sunday.

Sunday's victory, which was Group B's position decider saw Nigeria finish in first place ahead of their West African counterparts, securing a semifinal tie with Benin Republic.

Ajakaye, Sabastine score to give Falconets 3-0 win

Opeyemi Ajakaye had opened the scoring for the Falconets in the 11th minute of the game, taking her tally in the competition to five goals.

The second half then saw the forward double the lead for Nigeria, erasing hopes of a possible Burkinabe comeback.

With three minutes to the end of normal regulation time, things went from bad to worse for Burkina Faso as Flourish Sabastine also got herself on the scoresheet.

With the game ending 3-0 at full-time, Nigeria succeeded in wrapping up their group stage campaign without conceding a goal, while having scored 16 in three matches.

They will now face Group A runners-up Benin Republic in the semifinal of the competition on Wednesday, May 31.

The other semifinal will see hosts Ghana take Burkina Faso.
