Transfer News: Another Premier League star after Isak takes drastic step to force transfer
An arm-wrestle between Yoane Wissa and Brentford is underway: with the club blocking the forward's move to Newcastle, the player, who is keen on joining the Magpies, has taken a new stance on social media, deleting all photos of himself in a Brentford shirt from his Instagram account.
The 27-year-old forward, whose contract with Brentford runs until June 2026, did not participate in the club's pre-season and has been training alone while waiting for the transfer to Newcastle to materialise.
This attempt to force a move mirrors the situation Newcastle is facing with Alexander Isak, who has already been sidelined from the team. The Swede wishes to move to Liverpool, but there have been no recent developments in the deal after Newcastle rejected an offer from the Reds.
Thus, while trying to sign Wissa, Newcastle is not yet letting go of Isak. Meanwhile, Brentford remains intransigent in negotiations for their player, rejecting approaches from the northern England club.
Eddie Howe, the Magpies' manager, has already expressed his desire to sign another forward before the transfer window closes, admitting it's a position that needs at least one reinforcement.
Brentford, for their part, didn't wait for Wissa's potential departure to strengthen their attack: Dango Ouattara has already signed for the Bees, who paid €49 million to Bournemouth for the forward – the most expensive transfer in the London club's history.
Last season, Wissa formed a formidable partnership with Bryan Mbeumo, who has since been signed by Manchester United, with each player scoring 20 goals across all competitions.
