Thomas Partey scores a screamer as Arsenal decimates Awoniyi's Nottingham Forest

Arsenal have returned to the top of the Premier League table following a big win over Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners put in a statement performance in front of their home fans, grabbing a 5-0 victory over Steve Cooper's side to return to winning ways after last weekend's 1-1 draw at Southampton.

First-half substitute Reiss Nelson was the star of the match, bagging two (2) goals and one (1) assist after coming on in the 27th minute to replace Bukayo Saka who went off injured.

In what was a tumultuous past week for Arsenal, manager Mikel Arteta sought to recover from the 1-1 draw at Southampton and a 2-0 loss away to PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Europa League.

The Spanish tactician named Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli in his front three while Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi led the line for Nottingham Forest.

It took just five minutes for Saka to find Martinelli who set off Arsenal on the way to a big win with the first goal of the match.

Despite Saka sustaining an injury in the first half, Arsenal refused to be stopped as Saka's replacement, Reiss Nelson scored in the 49th and 52nd minute and then set up Thomas Partey's goal in the 57th minute to effectively win the game for Arsenal.

Arsenal's captain Martin Odegaard put the cherry on the cake when he grabbed the Gunners' fifth goal of the night in the 78th minute off a Jesus assist.

The result puts Arsenal back on top of the table while Nottingham Forest remain bottom of the league with nine (9) points from 13 matches.
