The reason Arsenal are stalling on Eze deal ahead of Friday deadline
Arsenal have held an interest in Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze for the duration of the transfer window, but while they have been able to complete other deals this summer, they are yet to submit an offer for the England international.
Arsenal's delay
The Gunners have been one of the most active clubs in the transfer market this summer, having already acquired the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke.
However, they want to add a creative force, and Eze is particularly desired because he can double as an attacking midfielder and a left winger.
The former QPR man has a £68 million release clause; however, there is a deadline to for triggering it, as it expires on Friday, August 14.
Reason for the delay
The Gunners are in direct competition with their North London rivals, Tottenham, for Eze’s signature. However, according to David Ornstein, neither Arsenal nor the current Europa League champions are able to meet that figure currently, hence why the deal has not happened.
