Marseille had reportedly put together a bid for Moffi which included offering Senegalese striker Bamba Dieng to Lorient as a makeweight which was accepted by the club.

The player who is being courted by multiple clubs in Europe is now said to have turned down the deal as he prefers another French club, OGC Nice.

Moffi rejects Marseille

According to L’Équipe, Moffi has refused the chance to join Marseille in favour of joining Nice who are now closing in on the transfer.

Nice are reported to already have an agreement with Moffi but they have already had three bids turned down by Lorient as they did not meet the valuation.

Nice are now reported to be preparing their fourth bid for the coveted Moffi which they hope would be enough to end the transfer saga especially as the player wants to join them ahead of his other suitors.

Bamba Dieng is reported to still be on course to sign for Lorient in a separate deal worth €9 million after Moffi had turned down the swap to Marseille.

Dieng is still expected to undergo his medical today, and should an agreement between Lorient and Marseille be reached, the Senegalese forward would sign a four-and-a-half-year deal to potentially become Moffi's replacement.

The Dieng deal has no effect on where Moffi ends up as the transfer saga continues for the Nigerian who has scored 12 goals in 18 games for Lorient this season.

The Nigerian striker is now said to be patiently waiting on the result of the latest round of negotiations between Lorient and OGC Nice which is his preferred destination.
