There is a school of thought that Lionel Messi ended the GOAT debate by winning the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Gabriel's reply is also in line with N'Golo Kante who picked Messi over Ronaldo in an interview back in 2018.
Over the course of seven World Cup games, the Barcelona legend scored seven goals and provided three assists. He topped that off with a Golden Ball award to add to his glittering trophy cabinet.
Despite Ronaldo and Messi now playing their football outside Europe, with Al Nassr and Inter Miami respectively, the debate is set to rage on for many more years.
