Rest! — Barcelona star ends transfer speculation to Man United and Chelsea
Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez has shut down the transfer links to the Premier League, stating unequivocally that he will stay at the club in an assuring message to the fans.
What Fermin Lopez said
Barcelona played the Joan Gamper today, their traditional curtain raiser for the season. The Blaugrana won 5-0, and Fermin was the outstanding player of the match.
The 22-year-old scored the first two goals in the game and was named Man of the Match. During the post-match interview, he was asked about the rumours linking him to Chelsea and Manchester United.
He immediately shut it down, stating in very clear terms that he will not leave the club.
"I will NOT leave Barça. I will STAY here; Barça is my dream club. You fans can rest,” he said, per Barca Times.
"I want to stay here. It's my dream and I'll stay. I'm happy to help the team. Many things have been said, but I'm going to continue defending these colours and working as hard as anyone. The culés can rest easy.”
The Man United and Chelsea links
As Pulse Sports reported, Manchester United were readying a €70m (£61m) offer to secure the services of Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez, as were Chelsea.
The Spain international featured in 46 matches across all competitions for Barcelona last season, contributing eight goals and 10 assists. His excellent showing got him on the radar of the Premier League sides, but he has expressed his desire to continue at Barcelona.
