Randy Waldrum: Ex-international asks NFF to 'get' Super Falcons coach to the Super Eagles
Coach of the Nigeria Super Falcons Randy Waldrum has received his biggest tribute yet following an interesting call from an ex-international.
Former Nigeria international John Ogu has sent a special message to the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, after watching the Super Falcons come within touching distance of the FIFAWWC quarterfinal in Australia.
England ends Nigeria’s dream
The Super Falcons were on a mission to earn Nigeria a second appearance in the FIFAWWC last eight.
Nigeria came close but bowed out in the round of 16 after a brilliant performance against European champions, England’s Lionesses.
Falcons dominated the clash against England, who are 36 places above them in the FIFA ranking.
Nigeria’s women struck the woodwork twice against England who forced extra time despite being a player down following Lauren James’ dismissal after a moment of madness from the Chelsea women's star.
England went on to break the hearts of Nigeria as they knocked out the Super Falcons 4-2 on penalties.
Ex-Super Eagles star reacts
Despite the painful exit, former Super Eagles midfielder, Ogu, was impressed with what he saw from the girls.
Ogu took to his social media page to react, with the defensive midfielder calling on the Nigerian football governing body, NFF, to name Falcons coach, Waldrum, as the new man in charge of the men’s team.
“Get this Man @CoachWaldrum to work with the Super Eagles @thenff,” Ogu posted on his official X.com account moments after the game.
The Super Eagles' managerial role is one that has caused confusion, with reports that Jose Peseiro's contract with the NFF has since expired.
