10-man Real Madrid suffered a 2-0 defeat to high-flying Real Sociedad, meaning Barcelona could win their 27th LaLiga title with a win in their next match away to Espanyol.
Los Blancos went to the Reale Arena as they looked to grab a win ahead of the weekend's cup final against Osasuna; however, their hosts left them shell-shocked beating them to hand Barcelona the possibility of an earlier trophy celebration.
How it happened
Following Barcelona's victory over Osasuna earlier, Real Madrid had to beat Real Sociedad to prevent Barcelona from having the chance to win LaLiga as early as their next match.
Los Blancos started with a pop and threatened La Reale's goal early on; however, their depleted attack did not manage to breach the impervious Sociedad defence.
The hosts slowly played their way into the game and started to apply themselves, threatening Thibaut Courtois' goal.
Just after returning from the half-time break, Eder Militao's faulty back pass was pounced on by an alert Takefuso Kubo, who fired La Reale ahead against his former club.
A moment to forget for Eder Militao 😬

Madrid's woes were further compounded around the hour mark when Dani Carvajal saw a second yellow for a reckless tackle.
The hosts controlled the game and doubled their winning margin in the 85th minute of the game when David Silva found Ander Barrenetxea in the left-hand channel. The young winger cut in and finished brilliantly past Courtois.
Real Sociedad’s win means Barcelona need only two points to win LaLiga, and they stand a chance to clinch the league title in front of the supporters of their local rivals Espanyol when they travel to the RCDE stadium over the weekend.
