Portuguese manager Nuno Espírito Santo's position at the club is at risk due to a deteriorating relationship with the board.
The Premier League club is considering dismissing the Portuguese manager due to tensions between Nuno and the board.
Forest's approach in the transfer market, including delays in signings and the arrival of players the Portuguese coach deemed unsuitable, has reportedly worsened the relationship.
Forest looking for replacement
A week ago, before the Premier League opener, Nuno Espírito Santo openly criticised Forest's transfer activity. "We are a long way from having the squad finalised.
"The plans we had didn't materialise and the team's preparation was not ideal. We don't know what squad we will have. We have players training here who know they will be loaned out; we have a big problem," he said in an interview with Sky Sports, via Abola.
The following day, Forest kicked off their season with a 3-1 victory over Brentford. Dan Ndoye, one of the four signings secured at that point, scored one of the goals.
Since then, Nottingham Forest have officially announced four more reinforcements: Omari Hutchinson, an attacking midfielder who arrived from Ipswich for €43.4 million; Arnaud Kalimuendo, a striker signed from Rennes for €30 million; James McAtee, a former Manchester City attacking midfielder, for €25.5 million; and, last Thursday, Douglas Luiz, a Brazilian midfielder on loan from Juventus in a deal totalling €30 million.
A right-back is also close to arriving: José Ángel Carmona, a 23-year-old Spaniard from Sevilla.
