Nigerians have blamed Tobi Amusan’s heartbreak at the World Championships in Budapest on the Athletics Integrity Unit, AIU.
Pulse Sports reported that the world record holder was dethroned in a painful manner by surprise package Danielle Williams in a tense final on Thursday.
Williams cruised to gold in the 100m Hurdles final, leaving defending champion Amusan in sixth position.
Amusan’s defeat in Budapest
The athletics superstar sailed into the final in relative ease despite distractions before the competition.
Amusan was facing a possible ban from the 2023 World Championships in Budapest for missing a doping test.
The Nigerian athlete was accused of violating three Anti-Doping Rule Violation, ADRP, and was suspended.
However, a panel of disciplinary tribunals paved the way for Amusan to participate in Budapest after she was cleared of any wrongdoings days before the start of the competition.
Amusan overcame the setback to ease to the final of the 110m Hurdles but could not defend her title in a disappointing appearance in the final.
