He will lead Nigeria to AFCON glory - Super Eagles legend Oliseh hails Boniface after historic Leverkusen win
Bayer Leverkusen have secured their maiden Bundesliga title, dethroning perennial champions Bayern Munich with five matches remaining in the season.
At the heart of this historic triumph is Nigerian striker Victor Boniface, whose prolific performances have been lauded by legendary compatriot Sunday Oliseh.
Oliseh makes bold Boniface prediction
Oliseh, never one to mince words, took to Twitter to heap praise on the 23-year-old Boniface, who proved decisive again as Leverkusen sealed an unbeaten title-winning campaign.
"Victor Boniface was once again extraordinary as Leverkusen grabbed its first-ever Bundesliga title with 5 games left to play," Oliseh wrote.
"Boniface is strong, skilful, intelligent, mobile, calm under pressure and I am convinced he will lead Nigeria to AFCON glory & more soon,” he added.
Boniface, a former Union Saint-Gilloise star, has enjoyed a remarkable debut season with the Werkself, netting 11 goals and providing eight assists in just 18 Bundesliga appearances.
His impact was on full display on Sunday, as he scored the opening goal from the penalty spot and set up another in Leverkusen's 5-0 thrashing of Werder Bremen at the BayArena.
The victory as inspired by the Nigerian and his partner in crime, Florian Wirtz, handed Xabi Alonso's side their first-ever Bundesliga title in the club's 120-year history.
Boniface and AFCON
Boniface's seamless transition to the German top flight and his pivotal role in this historic run have not gone unnoticed, with Oliseh tipping the young striker to lead Nigeria to glory in future African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments.
The Leverkusen forward was a big miss as Nigeria’s Super Eagles made it to the final of the 34th AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire early this year.
Despite making the final 25-man list, Boniface would go on to miss the tournament as he picked up a three-month injury in camp with his national teammates.
He watched and cheered on his compatriots from his base in Germany during his rehabilitation as Nigeria made it to the final before losing to the hosts.
As Leverkusen's fairy-tale season continues, all eyes will be on Boniface and his teammates as they look to cement their place in the club's annals.
With the Nigerian prodigy now fully back, fit and leading the charge, the Bundesliga title may just be the first of many accolades for this rejuvenated Leverkusen side.

Alonso’s men still have the DFB Pokal and Europa League titles to battle for as they look to preserve their unbeaten run across all competitions.
