Napoli remains keen on Darwin Nunez as they submit offer for the Uruguayan striker
Nunez's underwhelming performances last season have prompted Liverpool to list him for transfer.
The Reds hope to recoup some of their €85 million investment made three years ago when they signed him from Benfica.
Napoli's offer Nunez
According to football-italia.net, via GSP, Napoli has tabled a bid exceeding €40 million for Uruguayan striker Nunez.
Authoritative sources in Italy report that Napoli considers Nunez a top attacking target and has submitted a verbal offer between €42 and €43 million.
The striker has reportedly rejected offers from Saudi Arabia, indicating his desire to continue playing at the highest level in Europe.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday that Napoli is preparing another round of negotiations with Nunez's representatives this week. This suggests Liverpool hasn't accepted the initial offer and is seeking a higher fee, closer to their original €85 million investment.
Romano posted on Facebook: "Napoli are preparing another round of talks with Darwin Nunez's camp this week to advance on negotiations. There are also other clubs interested from the Saudi Pro League, but Napoli have been trying for weeks... and they're currently still not giving up."
According to the cited source, Liverpool's asking price is over €70 million, while the striker's market value is estimated to be around €50 million.
Darwin Nunez made 47 appearances for Liverpool last season, scoring 7 goals and providing 7 assists.
Napoli's summer signings also include attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, 34, from Manchester City and center-back Luca Marianucci, 20, from Empoli.
