"My first lap was incredible" - Bezzecchi proud of his performance at the Czech Grand Prix

Marco Bezzecchi secured his third MotoGP podium of the season with a second-place finish at the Czech Grand Prix, leading the race for several laps.

The Aprilia rider got off to a blistering start and later described his opening lap as "incredible." He overtook Fabio Quartararo around the outside of turn three, taking the lead early in the second lap.

He maintained the lead until turn three of lap eight, where Marc Marquez overtook him.

What Bezzecchi said

Bezzecchi admitted he quickly realised he couldn't match the Spaniard's pace, as reported by Sportal.

"My first lap was incredible, to be honest. I passed Quartararo on the outside. The first half of the race was a lot of fun, but unfortunately, when Marc overtook me, I immediately saw that he had more pace in reserve.

"I tried to attack him, but he was strong. Anyway, it was a fantastic performance, I'm really happy. I have to thank everyone at Aprilia, at the factory in Noale, but especially my team, I love them.

"Thanks to all my friends, some of whom are here. And thanks to the fans, they were amazing," Bezzecchi said after the race.
