Milan vs Inter: Pioli provides key injury update ahead of UCL semi-final derby
Rafael Leao went off injured in the first-half of AC Milan's 2-0 win over Lazio, hence a major doubt for tomorrow's clash against Inter. Manager Stefano Pioli has now given a crucial update on his situation.
The Portugal international is one of the most important players for the Rossoneri; he is last season's Serie A MVP and was crucial in Milan's triumph over Napoli in the last round of the competition. His availability will no doubt be a huge boost for the seven-time champion.
What Pioli said
The Italian manager has suggested there is a chance the exciting winger will be available to be called upon in the Champions League semi-final first-leg against their neighbours, refusing to rule out his availability.
He revealed that he is progressing in his recovery, and if he is fit enough, he will be on the matchday squad.
“If he comes on the bench it’s because he can play. He has to stay 100% and everything is still open. Tomorrow morning he’ll try to push,” he said, per GetfootballNewsItaly.
“Today he underwent personalized training: the Portuguese, unlike what he did yesterday, however, took the field dedicating himself to a run at a calm pace.”
Meanwhile, AC Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic is reportedly set to leave the Rossoneri for Serie A minnows Monza when his current contract expires at the end of the season.
