Michael Olunga: Harambee Stars Captain Suffers Significant Setback in Qatar
Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga’s season is effectively over after his Qatari club confirmed that he will be on a lengthy spell out.
Olunga, who missed Kenya’s FIFA Series campaign last week due to injury has seen his situation clarified by Al-Arabi, who have stated that he will be out for up to eight weeks, meaning his season is over.
Al-Arabi confirmed that Olunga suffered a pelvic injury that needed surgery and will now be out for a lengthy period as he continues his recovery.
“Our player, Michael Olunga, suffered a pelvic injury. He underwent successful surgery this morning in Paris, France,” Al Arabi said via a social media post on Thursday.

“The player is expected to be sidelined for eight weeks, during which time he will undergo a rehabilitation program under the supervision of the club's medical staff.”
Less Prolific Season for Olunga
With the Qatar Stars League ending on April 28, Olunga will not recover in time to play a part again this term, seeing his season cut short by the major setback.
Olunga has played 17 matches in all competitions for Al-Arabi, scoring seven goals while providing two assists, having signed a two-year deal as a free agent, following the end of his four-and-a-half-year spell at Al-Duhail.
The striker, whose time in Qatar marked one of his most successful spells in his career, has had to deal with injuries in the last couple of seasons and he will be hoping to recover fully for a strong showing in 2026-27 as this will be the lowest-scoring campaigns for him since he moved to Asia.
Olunga last played for Al-Arabi on March 13, when he only managed 37 minutes, before being taken off, as they drew 1-1 with Al-Ahli.
