Messi's 2022 World Cup jerseys to sell for over ₦6 billion in special auction
Argentine football legend Lionel Messi is auctioning his match jerseys from the triumphant FIFA 2022 run that saw the Albiceleste become world champions for the first time since 1986.
Messi set to sell World Cup Merchandise
Messi was Argentina’s captain and led the team to victory in Qatar, and the Inter Miami star could be set to make a tonne of money by selling merchandise from the famous World Cup triumph.
Six of Messi’s jerseys worn at the 2022 Qatar World Cup have now gone on auction, with the priceless pieces of football history set to raise a bidding war until the middle of December.
The current highest bid for the collection of jerseys worn by Messi stands at a reported $5.2 million.
Messi jerseys going for premium price
Messi’s jerseys come at a premium, as the former Barcelona forward was the undoubted star of the World Cup, scoring seven times and claiming the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player.

He was also one of the most marketable players at the tournament, thanks to many successful years that have made Messi one of the most popular players in the world.
Since winning the 2022 World Cup, Messi has also been crowned the 2023 Ballon d’Or winner, winning an eighth award, the most in history.
