Mbappe pens emotional message to Real Madrid fans as he returns from illness to make Club World Cup debut
Kylian Mbappe has made his long-awaited debut at the Club World Cup for Real Madrid, featuring as a substitute in their 1-0 victory over Juventus on Tuesday.
The appearance marks a step in his recovery after a bout of illness that had previously hospitalised the French superstar.
Mbappe, was sidelined after being struck by a stomach virus, which reportedly led to a 5kg weight loss and kept him out of Real Madrid’s opening match against Al-Hilal.
His return to action came in Miami, where he played the final 22 minutes of the quarter-final clash, helping Carlo Ancelotti's side book a place in the next round.
Though not fully match-fit, his presence on the pitch served as a morale boost for the Spanish giants as they continue their campaign for global glory in the United States.
