Inter star speaks on 'special' Milan clash
Inter Milan right wing-back Denzel Dumfries says he looks forward to his side's matchup against their local rivals AC Milan in the semi-final of the Champions League, saying the showdown will be special.
The Nerrazurri booked a place in the next round of the competition after knocking out Benfica. Although they played a 3-3 draw at the Giuseppe Meazza in the second-leg, a 2-0 first-leg victory for Simone Inzaghi's men earned them a 5-3 aggregate triumph.
What Dumfries said
When the draws for the quarter-finals were made, the likelihood of a Derby Della Madonnina in the semi-final of the Champions League was on the cards.
Following Milan's triumph over Napoli and Inter's over Benfica, both teams are set to go head-to-head in Europe's elite competition.
Inter's Dutch wing-back, like many, says he is looking forward to the tie, believing it will be special.
However, he revealed that they avoided speaking of the possibility of facing the rivals with whom they share a stadium until they did the job against Benfica.
"Amazing feeling. It has been amazing what we have done until now. Now we will face AC Milan in the semi-finals which will be a special match. We're looking forward to it," he said, per the BBC.
"Before tonight we did not speak about it. Benfica are a very good team so the focus was on tonight."
The first-leg of the Milan derby will be played on May 10.
