Humble beginnings: Barca new signing trades his luxurious Lamborghini for small company car
Marcus Rashford is making headlines in Spain, not just for his loan move to Barcelona, but for what he’s driving to training.
The 27-year-old arrived at the club’s Ciutat Esportiva complex in a ₦55 million (£25,000) CUPRA, the modest company car issued to all first-team players.
It’s a far cry from the ₦990 million (£450,000) Lamborghini Aventador SVJ he was frequently seen driving around Manchester.
What’s the gossip?
Pulse Sports earlier reported Rashford sold the Lamborghini in March to a rally driver, two months after serving a six-month ban for speeding.
The ban came after he was caught exceeding 70mph on the M60 in his ₦1.2 billion (£560,000) Rolls-Royce Cullinan Blue Shadow in December 2023.
While the CUPRA still boasts a top speed of 155mph, it pales in comparison to the Lamborghini’s 217mph capabilities.

Still, the downgrade hasn’t gone unnoticed, with fans praising the forward’s low-key entrance to life in La Liga.
Rashford aiming for fresh start at Barcelona
Per Daily Mail, Barcelona are covering Rashford’s full ₦315 million (£315,000)-per-week wages, despite signing him on a season-long loan.
The club also holds an option to buy him outright for around ₦55 billion (£40 million).
Though likely to begin life as a bench option behind Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Lewandowski, Rashford’s versatility could prove vital in Barca’s push for domestic and European success.
The England star has also been handed the iconic No. 14 shirt, previously worn by legends like Johan Cruyff and Thierry Henry.
This move follows his brief revival at Aston Villa, where he impressed after a turbulent spell at Manchester United.
Reports of unrest and declining form dogged his final months at Old Trafford, before his December declaration that he was “ready to leave” the club.
