Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has provided a status update on the injury situation of defender Jurrien Timber.
Timber, 22, only recently signed for Arsenal in the summer from Dutch giant Ajax, and after a remarkable preseason campaign for the club and only 50 minutes into his Premier League debut, he suffered the dreaded cruciate ligament injury.
What Arteta said
Timber has missed 23 games for Arsenal so far, according to TransferMarkt, but according to the Arsenal manager, he is set to miss a lot more.
“Timber is doing very well. He’s flying to be fair, the stage he is right now,” he said, per Fabrizio Romano.
“The way he works every single day is incredibly satisfying to watch but unfortunately we’re going to miss him still for a long time. I think he’s in a really good place.”
The Basque tactician previously sat on the Arsenal bench for 18 months before he was fired, following a bad run of results; hence, it surprised many and even sparked speculations of a fractured relationship when the former PSG boss failed to courtesy after the match.
