As Pulse Sports reported, Messi was involved in a promotional alongside Hollywood A-listers Will Smith and Martin Lawrence for the fourth instalment of their Miami-based buddy cops movie franchise, “Bad Boys 4.”
The movie, directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, hit theatres on June 7th, 2024, and has been well-received by critics and audiences.
It has also raked in at the box office, making $56 million in the US and $104.6 million globally on its debut, per the Hollywood Reporter. This remarkable success is due to the popularity of the franchise and the starring actors, but also in part due to the incredible marketing push, in which Lionel Messi was involved.
In a video captioned “Pateando con los chicos. #BadBoys, Kickin’ it with the boys,” Messi appeared at what was depicted as the residence of the movie co-stars, and at the end of the video, he kicked a ball at the camera.

What Will Smith said
Speaking about the experience of working with Messi, the I Am Legend star remarked how much Messi enjoyed doing the commercial with them, and how interesting it was to see him outside his comfort zone.
“Messi is fantastic, he doesn’t do stuff like [acting], so it’s really interesting when you see somebody who is world-class in the thing that they do, and then they get that little kid smile doing something [new],” Smith said, according to ClutchPoints.
“He loved being on the set working, it was like a relief for him, he just loved playing in that world, he’s fun to watch.”
Messi is currently with the rest of the Albiceleste squad in the USA as they prepare for the defence of their Copa America title later this month.
