Ethiopian giant sign another Ugandan goalkeeper

Former URA captain Nafian Alionzi has finally sealed his transfer to Ethiopia.

The Uganda Cranes goalkeeper becomes the first signing for Ethiopia's Mekelakeya SC, also known as Defence Forces.

According to Soccer Ethiopia, Alionzi signed a one-year deal with the Ethiopian giant.

"Under a new coach, the team is looking forward to the next season and have signed their first player, goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi from Uganda," Soccer Ethiopia reported.

Alionzi was impressive in the most recent season for URA, as he kept 12 clean sheets, one fewer than goalkeeper of the season Simon Tamale.

The 27-year-old has spent the past six seasons with the Tax Collectors, establishing himself as not only a key pillar, part the team captain as well.

URA have already boosted their goalkeeping department with former Express goalkeeper Denis Otim Arua Hill SC's Rogers Omedwa.
