Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag was full of praise for young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, who put on a remarkable performance in the Red Devil’s triumph over Everton.
Ten Hag’s team ran riot against the Toffees, beating them 3-0 at Goodison Park, to move into the top six and leave Everton rooted in the relegation places.
Alejandro Garnacho opened the scoring on the day with a stunning strike, and Marcus Rashford doubled the lead from the penalty spot. Anthony Martial closed off the scoring as Manchester United registered a dominant victory.
What Ten Hag said
The 18-year-old midfielder shone in the preseason and was billed to become an important player for the Red Devils into the season, but he suffered an unfortunate injury that has kept him out of action for the first team until the win at Goodison Park.
"We know we're in a transition,” Ten Hag said, per the BBC.
“We have to develop players. Kids have to deserve it. It was painful for us when he got a bad injury in pre-season but now he's back. He's a good boy, very mature. He showed it today."
