Chelsea decision to snub Osimhen for 18-goal Bundesliga star could be a mistake

Chelsea have a new man in town; ex-Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca, and his first order of business, according to the Athletic, was to pull the plug on signing Victor Osimhen, opting for RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko instead.

Don't get me wrong, Sesko's a talented young striker, but Osimhen is what the kids call a 'gun-man', an absolute goal-scoring machine!

He's up there with Harry Kane and Erling Haaland as one of the deadliest finishers in the game.

So, why the hesitation? Apparently, it's down to his price tag, injury history, and playing style. Sounds familiar. Manchester City had similar concerns about Haaland, but look how that turned out.

Osimhen's stats speak for themselves - 17 goals in 32 appearances this season, despite a tough campaign for him and Napoli.

With the right creativity around him, he's capable of bagging 30 goals a season, like he did in 2022-23 when he led Napoli to the title.

If the Nigerian ends up at Arsenal this summer, as rumors suggest, Chelsea and Maresca might be left regretting their decision.
